ABOUT HERTS ALPACAS TONKA

Herts Alpacas Tonka [owned by Pinnacle Alpacas] is an absolute stand out Macho, be it in the show ring, or in the paddock, Tonka just commands your attention with his presence and fluidity of movement.

Conformationally, Tonka has it all.  He exhibits a great substance of bone with a breadth of chest so necessary in our herd sires and has a wonderfully deep muzzle and a highly desirable head style. His fleece is beautifully soft handling, fine and dense with great length and a brightness and architecture to be prized. Tonka is a gentle giant and a true gentleman with the ladies, which just compliments the all round package that he brings to a breeding programme.

In 2024 Tonka won the Reserve Champion Light Fawn Sash at the National Champion of Champions Fleece Show , just behind Bozedown Trailblazer who went on to take the Supreme Huacaya Fleece, judged by Barbara Hetherington. Tonka went on to be awarded the 2024 South of England Halter Show Reserve Champion Light Huacaya Sash, under Rob Bettinson.  His second fleece was awarded Champion Light Huacaya at the 2023 Northern Fleece Show by judge Mary Jo Smith and in the course of 2023, Tonka added further Champion Sashes at the South of England (Tim Hey) and East of England Show, (Jo Bridge).  As a junior Tonka was a stand out young male and earned a Reserve Champion Sash at the Heart of England Show (Barbara Hetherington) in the only show Tonka was entered into in 2022.

When you add in Tonkas pedigree with Softfoot Koo Wee Rup as his sire and Coonawarra Gladiator in the background and Herts Top Tottie as his dam with Herts Nigel and Lavender Park Tulley and Patagonia Celtic Triumph all in the pedigree, it is clear that this male is going to have an important role to play with his influence on the National herd as a herd sire.

Tonka immediately captured our eye as a junior and we have been delighted to see him grow on and mature into the fabulous male we present to you today. He has clearly also caught the eye of multiple judges in the Show ring.

Currently, Herts Tonka is only used for in house matings. His cria are exciting us and it is clear to see that Tonka is passing on all his enviable traits to them.
